Teaching

Advanced Dance

I regularly teach beginning and advanced contemporary dance classes within the public, university, and professional sector. My movement style is embedded upon classical modern movement, with an emphasis on improvisation and Bartenieff Fundamentals. Since I am a tall dancer, I enjoy large, expansive movement that explores the reaches of a dancers kinesphere and depth of dynamic changes.

Dance Within the Community

Dance for Parkinson’s and Ageing Community

I have participated in the full training offered by the Dance for Parkinson’s Model. I have also been teaching within the aged community, specifically with people diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I continue to teach and engage with all abilities using the Dance for PD model and my own choreographic knowledge. I love creating themes and incorporating improvisation within the class, to further the imagination element and brain connectivity. My passion for these classes are definitely warranted as participants find them uplifting, encouraging, physically fulfilling, and socially enriching!

Travel and Guest Teaching

Besides my regular teaching, I have been able to travel to Xian, China to lead community dance classes. I have also been invited as a guest teacher within dance different dance companies and schools.

Creative Dance for Children and Youth

Creative dance education within the early developmental years of a child is so important. Having children of my own has increased my passion for introducing physical development, social learning, and imagination through movement. I regularly teach children and youth classes focused on self expression, creative problem solving, social games, choreographic artistry, and increasing technical ability.
